Brian McGee's career as a motivational smoker began in 1987 with the successful launch of his "SmokeSmart" workshop at the Alternative Therapies Conference at Birmingham's NEC. From there, "SmokeSmart" developed into a national lecture tour, with Brian taking his brand of motivational smoking on the road for over two years.
The "SmokeSmart" workshop taught experienced smokers how to get more out of their cigarettes and while the rewards were self-evident, Brian felt the need to expand his horizons and reach out to new recruits.
This led to the formation of "Today's The Day", a 12 step programme designed to get non-smokers to make a lifelong commitment to the delicious weed. It was at a "Today's The Day" seminar in Nottingham that Brian first met Sarah, his current wife and business partner.
Despite "Today's The Day" and "SmokeSmart" both being resounding successes, Brian was careful not to rest on his laurels. In the face of increasing governmental hostility to tobacco smokers, he campaigned to preserve the right of smokers to enjoy tobacco and formed FILTERS - Federation to Improve Lives Through Educated & Responsible Smoking.
Between 1999 and 2003, FILTERS fought against political double-standards regarding smoking and gained much attention through local and national press. However, the group was formally dissolved in 2004 due to financial irregularities.
At present, 'Dr.' McGee continues the campaign for tobacco education and has written his first book - How To Start Smoking, which aims to teach newcomers about the joys of smoking.
He and Sarah currently reside in Surrey with their two sons - Benson (8) and Hedges (5).
